Freshman Student Council held its inaugural class fundraiser at A&H Farms on Friday. The fundraiser gave students the opportunity to get into the fall spirit by providing Halloween-themed games, slides, corn mazes and hay back rides. A free s’mores kit was also offered to attendees.

“I think it’s very important to give back to the community,” A&H Farms owner Andrea DeJesus said. “So we partner with schools, we work with churches, we work with other aspects of the community, but giving back is very, very important because the community gives so much to us.”

The original goal of the fundraiser was to raise money for the Freshman dance. However, StuCo wasn’t able to sell enough tickets beforehand in order to make a significant profit. Nevertheless, the failure provided a learning opportunity.

“We didn’t get the turnout we expected,” treasurer Raisa Hossain said. “I think we definitely will not put ourselves in a position where we’re bound to lose money … We are sure that we have learned from this experience and we will take it and we will use it these next four years as a part of the class of 2025. And we can ensure that our fundraisers will not have a risk like that in the future.”
