20 years ago, on Nov. 7, the movie Elf was created. In celebration of the movie’s 20th anniversary, many families and friends are going to watch the movie and preparing for the winter season as it gets closer to Christmas.
Elf is very comedically filled and does a great job of focusing on many typical holiday themes but doing so in a fresh and heartwarming way.
The movie is about Buddy learning more about family and finding love and acceptance, and these are the themes that are timeless when it comes to holiday films.
Elf brings me a lot of joy because it’s full of Christmas spirit. Will Ferrell, the actor who plays Buddy, is so unintentionally funny. My favorite part of the movie is when he put chocolate syrup on his spaghetti noodles, as well as the part earlier in the movie when he was testing the jack in the boxes, and was jump-scared by the jack in the box multiple times.
Buddy is inspiring to me as he gives children and adults the belief that Santa is in fact real and helps make Santa’s sleigh fly by the power of believing. One of the parts I like most about Buddy is that he never gave up finding his real father and never gave up trying to give people Christmas spirit that they were missing.
