The Manhattan High bowling team snatched first in boys and girls divisions on Jan. 21 in the Topeka High Quadrangular at Gage Center.
“We pretty much ran away with both sides,” coach Chris George said.
The boys finished the outing with a team score of 2601, nearly 400 more than the runner-up Highland Park (2212). Topeka West (2109) and Topeka High (2030) finished third and fourth respectively.
The girls won handily, notching 1997 points. Over 500 short of the mark, Topeka West (1469) placed second. Highland Park (1336) and Topeka High (1297) rounded out the quad.
The Indians are familiar with playing at Gage Center since it is where Regionals are played.
“For some of our guys, it’s kind of like a home away from home,” George said. “They’re used to it. They like the lane conditions.”
The squad bowled Tuesday at Westridge Lanes hosted by Washburn Rural.
“We definitely are doing better than we have in some years,” George said.
