Three bowlers represented the Manhattan High Bowling team at the 6A State Bowling Tournament in Wichita on March 6 and 7. Freshman Courtland Millington placed ninth. Freshman Nicholas Burfict and Senior Grace Radi also competed, but didn’t place. State bowlers had to finish in the top six individually at Regionals to advance to the State Tournament.
“I feel like it was an amazing experience that I’ll never forget,” Radi said.
Last season at State, Radi competed as MHS’s only bowler.
“I did better at State last year, but I think I definitely had more fun this time, especially being with my teammates,” Radi said.
State is certainly a different atmosphere than that of most other meets, because of the amount of competitors, especially for the two freshmen that represented Tribe.
“There was definitely more competition,” Millington said. “But it definitely made it better.”
The excitement of going to State will stick with both freshmen that competed.
“It’s a nice feeling when you know you’re a freshman going,” Burfict said.
