The Manhattan High Chamber Orchestra is headed to the Big Apple on April 16. The students will perform at New York City’s famous Carnegie Hall.
They plan to perform “London” by J. Haydn, “Waltz No. 2” by D. Shostakovich, Tchaikovsky’s 5th finale, “Passacaglia” by George F. Handel and “She Will Hang the Night with Stars” by W. Hofeldt.
Members of the chamber are looking forward to the opportunity to perform at a world-renowned venue, as well as spend time with their fellow classmates.
“There are many fun things to do in New York, but I am definitely most excited to see
‘Wicked’ on Broadway,” junior Enoch Wang said. “A close second would be trying New York’s staple foods, like their famous bagels and sandwiches.”
The group also plans to visit UniQlo headquarters and explore the Rockefeller Center. They will also attend a seminar of a renowned music conductor from the area, Diego Garcia. Though the trip will be long and tiring, Wang hopes to make the most of the trip.
“I hope to play a lot of Uno and get to know my orchestral buddies more,” Wang said.
