Manhattan High School Student Council held their annual Club Volleyball event in the South Gym last Thursday. The event included multiple MHS clubs and organizations, including Black and Asian student unions, Math Club, FFA and German Club.
ASU came away with the championship, beating BSU in the finals. ASU’s victory marked a “historic” 3-peat for the club, who had won the tournament the past two years.
“Three-peating felt so amazing,” ASU co-president Ethan Xin said. “It was super fulfilling to see each member put their all into a common goal and achieve what they had been talking about all year.”
The tradition of Club Volleyball has been a cherished memory for many students. Junior Jacob Hsu always looks forward to the chance to compete and try to win a championship.
“We took it way too seriously,” Hsu said. “We had two practices beforehand and some of us practiced during weights classes… Like MJ’s Bulls, ASU feels pretty unstoppable now.”
Hsu also hopes the success of club volleyball motivates StuCo to hold more inter-club events/sports tournaments.
“I would especially like to see soccer and basketball incorporated in some way,” Hsu said.
