Lady Indian’s faced one of the most difficult weeks of practice in the season with a second place Monday meet at home and their annual 100 100’s swim practice.

Manhattan High hosted a home triangular meet against Emporia and Hays last Monday due to a conflict with activities. Having faced Emporia previously in the season, the team sought to better themselves against one of their more frequently met opponents.

“This meet, I think we were hoping for a little revenge on Emporia,” sophomore Leilani Kreck said.

MHS won four of the events at the meet including the 400 free relay. Senior Mariah Scipio won’t the 500 freestyle and 50 freestyle with Freshman Luann Jung winning the 100 butterfly. Freshman Stephanie Fu took third overall in diving with 135.10 points scored and sophomore Elizabeth Underwood took fifth with 121.55.

“We definitely made a lot of improvement as a team because we’re in way better shape now,” senior Katrina Yau said.
