Advanced photography captures Mass Street

John Rockey, Senior Staff Writer

Traversing Massachusetts Street armed and taking shots, teacher Robert Allman’s photography three journeyed to Lawrence with a variety of lenses and set out for anything and everything that interested them most in Lawrence’s cultural center.

“We didn’t have a specific assignment, so we were shooting around for what would look good to us,” senior Alliyah Strickland said. “I took a picture of a couple really old buildings and I took a couple closeups of chairs in front of restaurants.”

Mass. Street features several historic buildings that harbor numerous venues offering several photo opportunities for the students to create. While on their own, the students exchanged between telephoto lens, 250mm lens or short ‘pancake’ lens that provide them with different ways to capture and present shots based on the goals they had.

“Some buildings looked more interesting or if there was an interesting shot nobody saw that we could find,” junior Caitlin Rusk said. “You get to practice a little bit more with the different lens and see the different kinds of images you could get.”
