Find what makes you unique
May 11, 2015
With the 2014-2015 School year coming to a close, and with it my high school career, I can look back and tell you how to deal with homework or how to handle your least favorite teacher, but I won’t. Instead what I will tell you is that everybody at this school needs to discover their own Death Star. At this point you’re thinking, “This guy is crazy and there is no such thing as a moon-sized space station,” but that’s not what I mean. What most people don’t understand is that when I talk about “Star Wars,” there are life lessons involved.
In “Star Wars: A New Hope,” Luke Skywalker destroys the Death Star, which cripples the Empire and proves that he is the hero of the rebellion. This action defined Luke and set him apart from everyone else in the galaxy. Throughout high school, we, as students, need to find our Death Star that will express our individuality. For me my Death Star was being the “Star Wars” guy. Every day for the past four years I have worn a piece of “Star Wars” clothing. In this school my name has become synonymous with the “Star Wars” movies. Whenever someone wants to know something about “Star Wars” they come to me. I have made my love for “Star Wars” known to everybody and because of that I am able to express my passion more openly.
To those people who haven’t yet found their Death Star, keep looking. It can be anything, such as a sport, movie, school subject or anything that you are passionate about. Don’t be afraid to hide your passion because of what other people might think of it. No one ever told Luke that he wouldn’t face challenges while trying to destroy the Death Star. Be proud of your passion and make yourself known for loving it. So get out there and find your Death Star. It will make high school a lot more fun and life a whole lot easier.
