The Manhattan High School Wrestling team returned to action this past week with two more away meets in Clay Center and Norton respectively. The Indians were able to defeat Clay Center in their dual by score of 58-18 in their first competition back.
Juniors Mason Wallace, Eldon Picou and Devin Norris among others pulled off wins and helped Manhattan with the away win that put MHS with a record of 11-3 in duals this season.
The Norton Tournament came next on the schedule and it featured a variety of schools with various skill levels. Out of the 18 schools, Manhattan was able to place second with 183 points just under Garden City’s 231 points.
“It went real good. I had four matches and I feel like I dominated every match,” Wallace said.
Juniors Joe Braun, Norris, Picou and Wallace all placed first to help Manhattan achieve a second place performance in the competition.
“It went pretty well. I feel like we scored as much as we could,” Braun said.
For their next challenge the Indians will once again travel, this time to Newton, to compete in a two-day tournament that will start on Friday and end on Saturday.
“I have high expectations for our team. I hope we do better than last year, I think we will do better than last year. For me, I just want to push the pace in my matches and get first again,” Picou said.
