Inauguration of Donald J Trump kickstarts presidency
January 23, 2017
As the sun rose on Jan. 20, Donald J. Trump was preparing to be sworn in as the 45th president of the United States. Inauguration Day was upon us.
The day began with the Obamas and the Trumps having tea and cookies, as the Trumps were welcomed to the White House. After several remarks from reverends, justices and other officials, Trump took the oath of office.
From there, Trump gave his inaugural speech, stating that while he is president, the power would be placed back in the hands of the American people. He promised to make sure that neighborhoods for Americans would be safe, schools would be safe and that the American people would have good jobs for themselves. He also promised to keep his focus on America and America alone.
“Every decision on trade, on taxes, on immigration, on foreign affairs, will be made to benefit American workers and American families,” Trump said in his address. We must protect our borders from the ravages of other countries making our products, stealing our companies and destroying our jobs. Protection will lead to great prosperity and strength.”.
Donald Trump says that his first “real” day in office was Monday.
Since the inauguration, the crowd size has been brought up by many news networks as well as the president himself. The comparison between Barack Obama’s inauguration and Trump’s crowd has angered many supporters, stating that the news networks have been reporting inaccurately. Regardless of the size, those who came to witness the swearing in of our next president withstood the rain and celebrated.
The world watched as Barack and Michelle Obama boarded their helicopter and said goodbye, the Trump family took their place in the White House, and the Trump era began.
