Skills USA wins fall homecoming club dodgeball
September 25, 2014
After two hours of matches, two teams were left standing at Club Dodgeball. Coming down to Skills USA and BPA, Skills USA came out to be victorious Wednesday night. In this biannual match, the clubs at MHS form teams for an epic face off.
In the last moments of the final match, there were only two left on the court, senior Tristen Kleinbeck for Skills USA and senior Kelsey McCarthy for BPA. After constantly dodging each other’s throws, the referee had them move closer.
“It was a cool dodgeball face off,” McCarthy said. “In the last game I felt so jittery from excitement. I threw my last two balls then Tristen threw a ball that hit my leg.”
Skills USA hadn’t won in the last few years making this a bigger win for them.
“We didn’t think we were going to win, but we didn’t give up,” senior Justin Vandyke said.
While Skills USA felt the excitement after winning, BPA members we’re a little down after their loss.
“I felt defeated and it crushed my heart,” McCarthy said.
