Manhattan High’s soccer team battled Topeka High Saturday evening and brought home a 2-0 win.

The boys fought throughout the game with Topeka for the ball. With the Indians’ strong defense, the Trojans had a tough time moving the ball to the Manhattan side for a goal attempt.

“[The defense] were rock solid, especially after the half,” junior Kirk Lambert said.

Within the first 20 minutes of the game, junior Ben Turnley made the first goal of the night with the assist from Lambert. In the game, they shot out Topeka 21-0. Lambert scored the second goal of the night assisted by Turnley.

“I had already had a few shots that I probably should have made, so when it went in it felt good,” Lambert said.

Finishing with the win, the Indians rode home with their victory. Manhattan will again play Highland Park at 4:30 p.m. this Thursday in Topeka.
