Sophomore Lane Lewison is already working toward fulfilling his dream of someday attending Kansas State University and becoming a sports broadcaster. Lewison is in his second year with MHS Student Media, where he has been a videographer and sports announcer, as well as covering sports in print publications. This year he is Sports Editor for the newspaper and yearbook.

“I did cross country in my freshman year, but other than that I just do a lot of journalism,” Lewison said.

For Lewison, doing both sports and journalism makes sense because he has a passion for both.

“So I love to watch sports for one thing,” he said. “How that relates to journalism is that I am the announcer for sports.”

While Lewison has interests in other things, including types of journalism, he feels most connected to sports journalism.

“I just think they’re so entertaining and how they bring people together,” Lewison said. “I suck at playing them but I can do a report on them, basically.”
